Zinedine Zidane feels Giggs and Scholes can do the job at Old Trafford

Zinedine Zidane has backed Ryan Giggs to become the permanent successor to David Moyes as the manager of Manchester United, writes the Daily Mail.

The talismanic former Real Madrid midfielder maintains that, having been at United for 17 years, Giggs’ knowledge of the club is second to none and would hold him in good stead if he was given the chance to lead United.

‘The fantastic thing about Ryan Giggs is he already knows that, he will know Manchester United better than anybody,’ said Zidane.

‘I think that him and Paul Scholes could do a very good job if they were given the chance.

‘You will always get arguments that they are young or that they are not experienced.

‘But between them they have been at Manchester United for 30 years. And you can not be better equipped than that.’

The mercurial Frenchman insists that experience is secondary to ability when it comes to understanding the culture of a football club as storied as Manchester United.

‘There is often a lot of questions about experience – but not always enough questions on ability.

‘When you think of Ryan Giggs you think of a man who has played under Alex Ferguson his entire career. It is impossible that he has not learned many things off of him.

‘When you think of clubs like Real Madrid and Manchester United – one of the biggest challenges of a new coach is understanding the culture of one of the biggest clubs in the world.

‘How to handle big expectations from the fans, what quality of football is expected, how to represent one of the biggest clubs in Europe.’
