Halo: The Master Chief Collection developers receiving death threats

Halo: The Master Chief

Despite a massive 15gb day one update, Halo: The Master Chief Collection still had a rocky start with a broken matchmaking feature and other numerous bugs and glitches.

This isn’t very uncommon these days with many big releases facing similar issues but 343 Industries has done a pretty decent job in communicating with fans and subsequently releasing patches which they hoped will fix the many issues players have been facing.

And while some of these patches have worked, many players have resorted to enjoying whatever content did work properly while waiting for more patches. But the updates have slowly started to reduce and players have grown impatient over it with some even resorting to the ever annoying death threats.

Franchise director Frank O’Connor gave a very shocking response on the gaming forum NeoGAF recently in regards to the games patches.

In a reply to a user who stated that that they were still experience some problems but enjoyed the game when it works, Frank under his username Stinkles said “You are ‘lucky.’ Lots of people are having the same experience as you (which still isn’t good enough) – but many people aren’t having as good an experience. Something we hope to fix properly, soon. I am not posting much for a couple of reasons, one, too busy trying to fix. Two, well past a couple of dozen believable (I don’t personally believe them, but better safe than sorry) death threats. Apologies. We’ll keep communicating via Halo Waypoint.”

Death threats are not surprising anymore considering how common it has become for random people to threaten others under the helpful guise of anonymity, but it is still quite repulsive that some players have resorted to doing so.

Even if player base is quite angry with all the bugs and glitches, it still does not make it acceptable for people to threaten the developers over it, especially considering that all it does is spread fear and helps no one.

This may also reduce 343i future interactions with players as they’d be hesitant to do so for fear of receiving death threats.
