Glasgow, July 30 (IANS) To celebrate the spirit of the Games, Scottish brewing giant Caledonian Brewery has introduced a limited edition 'ale' brewed from ingredients from around the Commonwealth. Christened 'Commonwealth Gold', the refreshing golden beer has been brewed using open-fired coppers that date back to the Victorian age and combines ingredients from all over the Commonwealth, brought together according to the very best traditions of Scottish brewing.

According to Caledonian's Beer Specialist Craig Steven, the golden ale comes with a citric soft fruit aroma and flavour followed by a lemon and soft malt finish.

Established in 1869, the Caledonian, Edinburgh's oldest brewery has also introduced a mobile bar in Glasgow to showcase its range of cask ales during the Games.

Greenest Games ever!

Glasgow Commonwealth Games

From using recycled food waste to construct the Games venues to reusing 260,000 items of furniture, fittings and equipment from the London 2012 Olympics, the Glasgow Games are being hailed as the greenest Games ever.

Certified for achieving ISO 20121, the international standard for sustainable event management, the Glasgow games organisers have vowed to recycle or reuse at least 80 percent of waste that is produced during the 11 days of the competition.

'Recycling Ambassadors' and volunteers have also been appointed to help visitors with recycling.

Specially designed Solar PV panels have been installed on more than 700 homes in the Athlete's Village which will produce 60 percent less carbon than average houses.

Once the last race has been run, the village will be transformed into an affordable, energy-efficient housing area.
