We all as an individual always want to affiliate pride with a sportsperson but fail to endow explicit significance on it. Everyone commends sports as an institution that teaches hard work, sparks the urge to not to give up and helps to discipline the temperament; everyone celebrates the success of his team, argues about his favorite player and shares the Facebook statuses of Nadal defeating Federer. Everybody understands sports so well, we just need to help them in gaining the audacity to take up the challenge and carry sports to inordinate heights in our country.
‘Prakrida’, a start up by Rohit Arya (an IIM Indore alumnus), has in vision to provide the deserved platform of admiration and recognition every sportsperson is entitled to treasure. Prakrida means “place for sports” in Sanskrit and that is what exactly sportspersons are being deprived of in our country. Prakrida has in vision to provide every sportsperson with a place to dream, place to achieve, place to share, place to clinch, place to opinions, place to argue, place to compete, place to succeed, place to learn and place to play.
Prakrida organizes tournaments/sports meets in different cities of the country and then provides the best teams of the respective cities with the opportunity to compete against each other and challenge their own selves to come out as winner by organizing a ‘national level meet’. Prakrida trains these teams in its Academies under the guidance of the best coaches of the regions before they gear themselves up for the final challenge. This helps the sport in three ways: first, sportspersons get chance to play against their regional competitors and we get a champion out of them; second, these players get trained under the supervision of experienced coaches which in turn helps them to learn the sport more; third, they compete against the best teams of the country and are being faced to tougher challenges, adding to their experience. During the course, the events are promoted via different media vehicles increasing the general awareness of the sport among the people. It is very important for a country to build a strong domestic structure of a sport to establish a firm foothold at the international level; Prakrida just wants to contribute to it.
