Ranji: Chand fires Delhi on top against Rajasthan

New Delhi, Dec 23 (IANS) Unmukt Chand hit his fifth first-class century (146 runs) and half-centuries from Mithun Manhas (53) and Sumit Narwal (59) helped Delhi seize the initiative against Rajasthan on the third and penultimate day of their Ranji encounter at the Ferozeshah Kotla here Tuesday.

Delhi declared their innings at 380 for six, building up a first-innings lead of 239 before reducing Rajasthan to 78 for two, needing 161 more to avoid a final-day innings defeat.

In Rohtak, Vidarbha, after getting bowled out for 154 in the first innings, came back strongly to dismiss Haryana for 156 in their first innings. Left arm pacer Ravikumar Thakur took 4 for 38, while seamer Swapnil Bandiwar picked up 3 for 65. Vidarbha 2nd innings were 23 for 2. At stumps, Vidharbha were, however, reduced to 23 for two in their second innings, leading by just 21 runs and having eight wickets in hand.

In Wayanad, Sachin Baby scored a brilliant unbeaten double hundred (200 batting) to help Kerala post a formidable score of 447 for seven against Hyderabad after bowling them out for 270. Hyderabad were 4 for no loss in their second innings, trailing by 173 runs at stumps.
