Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is keen on introducing Robotic games in the 2020 summer Olympic games to treble the market for robots and revitalize the economy.

Abe said he wants to make optimum use of the mega event to showcase the world of its latest robotics technology, an industry Japan is famed for, in the 2020 games in Tokyo.

He said “In 2020, I would like to gather all of the world's robots and aim to hold an Olympics where they compete in technical skills; we want to make robots a major pillar of our economic growth strategy.”

"We would like to set up a council on making robotic revolution a reality in order to aid Japan's growth," he added.

Abe is struggling to resurrect the world’s third largest economy which has been bogged down by deflation, with his aggressive monetary policies.

The robotics industry has been identified by Abe as an important area which can help rekindle the economy in the future, with a large ageing population and ever increasing population.

Abe visited factories specializing in industrial and care-giving robots in Tokyo and Saitama recently. His comments have corresponded with the launch of a whirlwind of high-profile robots this month, as the nation established its place as the home to the most cutting-edge technology.
