Aditi Ashok leads Singha Thailand Amateur after day 1

8th September, Bangkok: India’s number one lady amateur Aditi Ashok, winner of the 2015 Ladies British Amateur Championship, shot one-under 71 to lead on day one of the 81st Singha Thailand Amateur Championship Girls category. Bengaluru girl Aditi, 17, started the day with a birdie on 1st, bogeyed the 4th and made up for the damage by shooting birdies on the 6th, 13th and then dropped a shot on 17th for a bogey at the Par-72 Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok.

Also in the fray was Thailand born Samarth Dwivedi, # 3 on the IGU men’s amateur order of merit, who got a direct entry into the event, returned as the best Indian in the men category after firing a round of five-over 77 for the 30th position.

The Indian amateur contingent of Jaibir Singh (#8 on the IGU men amateur Order of Merit), Hemendra Choudhary (#4 on the IGU men amateur Order of Merit), Seher Atwal (#3 on the IGU ladies amateur Order of Merit) and Anisha Padukone (#5 on the IGU ladies amateur Order of Merit) that was picked by the Indian Golf Union as per rotational basis, finished 62nd, 63rd, 32nd and 37th respectively.

Local lad Napong Sriprasit was the leader in the men’s category at two-under 70 in a field of 120 players from 12 countries.
