Aditi Ashok, Ridhima Dilawari to lead challenge in USHA Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2014

November 18: Usha International (UIL) is strongly committed to the development of sports in the country and has been a major supporter of Golf for the last 25 years. The Usha Eastern India Ladies & Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2014 begins today at the Tollygunge Golf club. The tournament will see Bengaluru’s Aditi Ashok, India’s second-ranked amateur lady golfer, lead the charge in the absence of the top-ranked Gurbani Singh of Delhi, who has gone abroad for higher studies.Also seen in action will be third-ranked Ridhima Dilawari of Delhi, as well as Amandeep Drall from Punjab.

Ridhima and Amandeep were the winner and runners-up of the IGU Navratna Ahmedabad Ladies & Junior Girls Golf Championship in October, capitalising on the absence of both Gurbani and Aditi. But while they have the confidence of having won that event, Aditi has shown greater form overall since the past year, which has sent her to the second spot on the Order of Merit.

The draw sees as many as 49 golfers teeing off in four categories, with the veterans Amandeep leading a set of ladies to take on Aditi and the younger lot of golfers. The event will be played in the stroke-play format over three days and 54 holes, with the winner to emerge on November 20.
