Video: IK Kim leads by one after first round of Helsingborg Open

IK Kim ended the day one shot ahead of home hope Pernilla Lindberg at the Helsingborg Open.

The South Korean fired five straight birdies in a bogey-free seven-under round in Sweden.

Windless conditions earlier in the day made for some low scores on the opening round of the Helsingborg Open in Sweden.

One of the large home contingent, Caroline Hedwall might have hoped for better than a three-under-par 69.

Fellow Swede Pernilla Lindberg fared much better, carding a 66.

By the end of the day, there were nine players a further two strokes back from Lindberg on four-under-par.

And as for the shot of the day.

Swedish rookie Camilla Lennarth holed a chip and run shot from 45 metres for eagle on the eighth hole.

But the player of the day – with a bogey-free seven-under-par round of 65 for a one-shot lead – was IK Kim.

The world number ten from South Korea is looking to add to her only success on the Ladies European Tour – the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters in 2009.
