Rio Olympics 2016: Zhang Chenglong to lead China's gymnastic squad

Olympic champion Zhang Chenglong is going to lead China's gymnastic squad at the Rio Olympic Games as the team announced the list on Monday.

Five-time Olympic medallist Zou Kai missed the squad as the team's selection board made their decision one day after the conclusion of the National Championships, reports Xinhua.

Zou, 28, was tangled by injuries on his Achille's heel and waist. In the opening day of the National Championships on Wednesday, he failed to nail on the floor exercise which is his speciality as he claimed two Olympic titles in this event.

The high bar expert Zhang Chenglong, member of the men's team that won the Olympic team event at London four years ago, is the only gymnast who has Olympic experience in the 16-member squad.

The list is still waiting for the approval from the General Administration Bureau of Sport of China.

The squad:

Men's: Zhang Chenglong, Deng Shudi, Lin Chaopan, You Hao, Liu Yang. (Substitutes: Liu Rongbing, Cheng Ran, Zhou Shixiong.

Women's: Shang Chunsong, Fan Yilin, Mao Yi, Wang Yan, Liu Tingting. (Substitutes: Tan Jiaxin, Luo Huan, Liu Jinrou.
