Hero Hockey World League Finals trophy unveiled in Chhattisgarh

Eight of the best teams from around the world have gathered at Raipur, Chhattisgarh to compete at the year’s biggest global hockey event, the Hero Hockey World League Final.

The tournament which is slated to be played at the Sardar Vallabh Bhai International Hockey Stadium in Raipur from 27th November – 6th December 2015 will see hosts India along with Australia, Argentina, Germany, Belgium, Canada, Netherlands and Great Britain vying for top honors. In a glittering ceremony at a city hotel today, the captains of all the eight teams unveiled the beautiful Hero Hockey World League Finals winner’s trophy.

The tournament also marks the city’s first ever exposure to a multi-nation international tournament. The Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Stadium with a capacity for 3400 people boasts of a state of art turf and lighting suiting international norms.

The tournament will be telecasted LIVE and Exclusive on Star Sports and will available for viewing on Star Sports1, HD1 and Stars digital platform, Hotstar from 18.30 hrs (IST) onwards.

India face Argentina in their first encounter on 27th November just after the grand opening ceremony showcasing Chhattisgarh’s folk culture. The opening ceremony which would include cultural performances from folk artists from Chhattisgarh will begin at 1700 hrs (IST) and will be presided over by Dr Raman Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh and Mr. Balramji Dass Tandon,Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh. The opening ceremony will be followed by India facing 5th ranked Argentina.
