HIL 2014: Kalinga Lancers to take on Jaypee Punjab Warriors in Mohali tomorrow

Hockey India League Match

Chandigarh 10 February 2014: Hero Hockey India League will witness Jaypee Punjab Warriors taking on Kalinga Lancers tomorrow at Mohali. Seated comfortably at the 2nd position in the points table, Punjab Warriors will look at continuing its strong form and give a tough time to the Kalinga Lancers.

While Kalinga Lancers are earning respect for the good play that they have showcased in the last few matches, they probably realise that they also need to start converting the chances that they have been creating against the opponents. They will be looking at playing 70 minutes of strong hockey in each of the last 4 games of the first round of HHIL 2014.

It remains to be seen whether Jaypee Punjab Warriors can again put up a good show in front of their home crowd or whether Kalinga Lancers can beat the former on their home turf.

Speaking on their match against the Jaypee Punjab Warriors, Kalinga Lancers’ Head Coach Terry Walsh said, “This will be a big test for us as Jaypee Punjab Warriors are one of the best teams in the competition. The match will definitely be difficult. For us, scoring goals will be the first priority. In the area of defence, we need to be careful in stopping them from scoring easy goals. The movement around the ground has been fine for the team.”

Barry Dancer, Head Coach, Jaypee Punjab Warriors said, “It feels nice to be back in Mohali after some good performances in away matches. This has given us a lot of confidence and we now aim to collect more and more points from our remaining three home games so that we comfortably secure a berth for ourselves in the semi finals.”

Jamie Dwyer, Captain, Jaypee Punjab Warriors, said, “So far the team has done really well and we are looking forward to our winning momentum in this tournament. We’ve defeated Kalinga Lancers before but we will not like to get complacent at this stage as it is really important for us to get better match after match.”
