Lucknow, 7 February 2014: Tomorrow is an important match for the Uttar Pradesh Wizards when they clash against the Delhi Waveriders at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium in Lucknow. Delhi Waveriders are sitting at the top of the points table and the Uttar Pradesh Wizards on the 3rd position, what is working for the Wizards is that they have just played 5 matches and have 15 points in their kitty while the Waveriders have played 7 matches for their 24 points. Hence the Uttar Pradesh Wizards understand that all matches from here are crucial for them and a must win and the Delhi Waveriders understand that to retain the top slot they will look at winning the next 3 matches.
Also each team realises that with Kalinga Lancers and Dabur Mumbai Magicians getting better with each game, no team wants to take it for granted that a berth for them is booked in the semi-finals. Hence each team from here will play to win and reach the semi-finals.
Speaking on the preparations Head Coach Delhi Waveriders, Cedric D’Souza said “We don’t see it as an easy game tomorrow against the Uttar Pradesh Wizards. The match with them is evenly balanced and it will be a tough match to play. The best team who plays good, doesn’t allow the pressure to take over will emerge the winner”.
Speaking on tomorrow’s match Captain Sardar Singh, Delhi Waveriders said “Our last game against the Uttar Pradesh Wizards was a draw. We need to improve our game against them, with special focus on mid field. We need to use our combination well and also put emphasis on man to man marking. We have to play well in the next to game and we will be through to Semi Finals”.
Speaking on tomorrow’s match Coach Reolant Oltmans, UP Wizards said “We had a very close game with Delhi Wave Riders in Delhi. We expect to have a same type of game. We need to play a well-balanced game. We are playing with them on our home ground and we hope to play some entertaining game and make the crowd experience a fantastic game”.
