Hockey: Indian eves lose to Argentina’s women’s team

The Indian women’s hockey team today lost its third match of the tour of Argentina to the host team. The aggressive Argentine women’s team closed the game with a smashing score of 4-1 in their second match against India.

The match witnessed the Argentine team attacking the India team and within the first 8 minutes of the game Martina Cavallero hit the first goal. The Argentina players continued to dominate the match, with Pilar Romang taking the second goal in the second quarter of the game.

In the next 20 minutes Noel Barrionuevo hit the third goal. The third quarter of the game saw the first goal of team India taken by Vandana Katarya. However the India-Argentina match ended at 1-4 with Noel Barrionuevo striking another goal in the last quarter.

Neil Hawgood, Chief Coach, Indian Women’s Hockey Team said, “Argentina was playing an extremely attacking game. The girls were well prepared for the match and made all possible efforts but again we believe there are certain areas which need attention. We are still two matches away from closing this tour and we are confident of putting forward a great show.”

India plays Argentina (Under 21 team) in the fourth match of the tournament on 26th November 2015 17:00 Hrs (01:30, 27 Nov IST).
