The insipid performance by the Indian hockey team in the recently concluded World Cup is now reflected in the latest FIH rankings. India's men dropped a place to ninth. They were also ninth in the competition.

The women's team, meanwhile, remains at 13th place.

Australia and the Netherlands, who won the men's and women's championships respectively, continue to lead the rankings.

The finalists of the men's version, Australia and the Netherlands, are on the top two spots. Australia's dominant display, beating the Netherlands in the one-sided final 6-1, keeps them in the top three for 11th consecutive year.

Argentina, who were impressive with a third place finish after beating England 2-0 in the play-off, climb four places to seventh. On the other hand, both Germany (3rd) and England (5th) fell one place each.

In the women's rankings, the Netherlands returned the favour by beating arch-rivals Australia 2-0, thus topping the rankings. USA are at 8th spot (earlier 10th) thanks to their inspired run to the semifinalis.

After the completion of Asia's indoor cup last week, the latest world indoor rankings have also been released. Germany continues to dominate the indoor game with both men's and women's team are at the summit.
