India stage remarkable fightback to draw 1-1 against Germany in the Hockey World League Finals

Akashdeep Singh scored a late equaliser in the final quarter, as India produced a fine fightback to draw 1-1 against Germany, in their second match of the Hockey World League Finals match in Raipur.Sardar Singh was adjudged the man of the match, as he played a pivotal role in guiding his team to a respectable draw against the Olympic champions but the real hero of the game was goalkeeper Sreejesh, whose vital saves prevented Germany from scoring the winner.Though India largely dominated possession throughout the match, it was Germany who took the lead in the very first quarter in the form of Niklas Wellen's fantastic goal. From then onwards, India looked to charge on every opportunity and created more chances.The third quarter was all about the goalkeepers from both teams, as they were involved in a flurry of saves, to rescue their respective teams. In the final quarter, it was Akashdeep who scored a beauty of a goal, to equalise and allowed the Indians to breathe easy.India looked a much better team amd more disciplined, when compared to their first game against Argentina, which they lost 3-0. For Germany, it was their second straight drawn game, after their goalless draw in the first game against Netherlands.
