After getting clean chit from High Court IHF is set to conduct the World Hockey Series in India
It is an ambitious project which is announced by IHF and Nimbus in the month of December. It’s a joint venture by IHF and Nimbus.
The reason behind starting the World Hockey Series is to revive the hockey in India and develop the techniques and skills of the players. The world Hockey Series is just like an IPL which gave boost to T-20 Cricket in India. So intention to start the World Hockey Series is to give boost to the game hockey in India which is the national game of the country.
But the HIF strongly opposed the project.FIH and Hockey India is working on this ambitious project from past many days. Hockey India is the only organization which manages all the functions of hockey in India. But FIH did not give permission to start the World Hockey Series.
According to FIH there might be chances of clashing the dates of matches which are going to be played in the World Hockey Series and matches which will be conducted by FIH.
There are chances that players might not play from their respective countries just because of the World Hockey Series.
The decision is still pending regarding official announcement of starting World Hockey Series. The HIF and Hockey India will jointly take the decision and will officially announce about the league in the month of March.
