Glasgow, July 18 (IANS) The Sardar Singh-led Indian hockey team for the Commonwealth Games is looking forward to seeing their vice-captain and goalkeeper P.R. Sreejesh replicate his World Cup performance. Sreejesh was at his prime in the World Cup held at The Hague from May 21 to June 15.

"Our practice session today was on the defence line-up and with the likes of Gurbaj Singh, V.R. Raghunath, Rupinder Pal Singh, Birendra Lakra and Kothajit Singh, we are confident of being a wall to the opponents. We will ensure that getting through the five will not be an easy task," said Sardar.

"While all five are working hard on their game, we are even hoping that Sreejesh again stands up and delivers like the way he proved himself at the World Cup. It is a sense of pride for me and the entire team when we see Sreejesh motivate all of us. This time the team wants to stand up to the expectations of Sreejesh." The skipper added that they are looking at video footage of other teams to analyse their strategy ahead of the tournament.

"The team is preparing methodically with vigorous and high intensity training. We are also undertaking video analysis of the previous matches to perfect our skills and techniques and put together effective strategies for the future games."

The Games will see a total of 10 teams divided into two groups. India are placed along with Wales, Scotland, Australia and South Africa in Pool A while Canada, England, Malaysia, New Zealand and Trinidad & Tobago are in Pool B.
