3 best Dabang Delhi moments from Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League season 3

Dabang Delhi did not have the best of seasons at the recently concluded 3rd edition of the Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League. Though their league position tells a different story, there were some very good moments to cherish as well.

We look at Dabang Delhi’s 3 best moments from Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League

Win over Bengaluru Bulls

The Eagles’ only win of the tournament came in their 8th match against Bengaluru Bulls at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. The Eagles came into this match on a 7-match losing streak and a scenario where they had to win all their remaining matches in order to keep their semi-final hopes alive.

The duo of Selvamani and Kashiling Adake stepped up at a crucial time for the Eagles, scoring 7 and 8 touch points respectively. On the defensive side, it was the duo of in-form youngster Sandeep Dhull and last season’s best defender, Ravinder Pahal, who were able to block the Bulls’ raiders successfully in order to help the Eagles register their maiden win of the campaign.

Draw against Jaipur Pink Panthers

Dabang Delhi got the chance to play in front of their home crowd a little later in the season as the Delhi leg was played just before the Mumbai leg and this gave the Eagles a brilliant opportunity to rise up on the league standings.

However, the first two home matches didn’t go Delhi’s way and they were thrashed at home in a record breaking 34-67 win for the Patna Pirates.

The Dabangs had little to lose when they met Jaipur Pink Panthers in their 3rd home encounter of the campaign, and surprisingly they managed to produce their best defensive display against the Panthers.

Combining well with star defender Ravinder Pahal, the 20-year old Sandeep Dhull took the responsibility of blocking down the opposition players. Selvamani gathered 5 raid points to help the Eagles produce an entertaining draw against the Panthers.

Anil Nimbolkar finally got his chance to shine

After drawing against Jaipur Pink Panthers in the previous game, the Eagles took on Bengal Warriors in their last home game of season 3. This very match came as an opportunity for Anil Nimbolkar to show his mettle, who had been on the bench for Delhi for some time.

The 26-year old raider took the chance and troubled the Bengal defence the entire game. Anil, along with Selvamani, broke down the Warriors’ defence on a regular basis and managed to get 14 and 10 points respectively. However, the Dabangs were not able to win the match and were beaten 37-31 by the Warriors.
