Welcome to the LIVE coverage of the first match of today’s double header between hosts Jaipur Pink Panthers and the Hyderabad-based Telugu Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. This encounter marks the start of the second leg of ongoing Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League with the new hosts Pink Panthers in action in the next 4 days.
The Jaipur-based franchise has been on the losing side in the only match they had played so far in the tournament, losing the closely contested match 34-36 against the season 3 finalist U Mumba. The newest addition to the side, Shabeer Bappu was seen in sublime form against his former side, however, his mammoth 9 raid points were not enough to take his side all the way in the tie. Jasvir Singh, the skipper for the Abhishek Bachchan owned side looked out of colour in the first match has to take responsibility to lead his team to victory like he had done in the previous 3 seasons.
Similarly, Telugu Titans lost their opening tie against last season’s semi-finalist Puneri Paltan 24-28 in what proved to be a thrilling encounter between the two evenly matched sides earlier in the season. The new looking Telugu side have bolstered their defense by adding Sandeep Narwal to their squad who has recently won the season 3 title with the Patna-based franchise Patna Pirates. Sukesh Hegde and Rahul Chaudhari, both retained by the franchise have to take up the responsibility to score some raid points in order to make something out of today’s encounter against the much more balanced Jaipur side.
The two sides have met 6 times in the previous seasons of Pro Kabaddi with Jaipur Pink Panthers just edging away with 3 wins against 2 for the Rahul Chaudhari led side while drawing the one match played in season 2. It would be interesting to see if Rahul Chaudhari can mastermind a classic victory against the Pink Panthers at their own den?
