03:30 (IST)5 AUG 2016

Full time: It was a tightly contested game that truly burst to life in the second half. Considering the balance of play, a draw seems to be a fair result. Gnabry was Germany's most direct attacking threat in the game. The Arsenal man put on a great display, lacking only the final ball. For the Mexicans, Hirving Lozano was their greatest asset in the game, causing problems for the German defence with his pace. Both managers will be reasonably pleased with what they saw from their teams tonight, as they take a point each from the opening fixture of group C.

03:21 (IST)5 AUG 2016

90+3'  The ref blows the final whistle, bringing the game to an end.

03:20 (IST)5 AUG 2016

90+ 2'  Suddenly the game seems calm now. Maybe both teams would be satisfied with a draw in this opening fixture.

03:18 (IST)5 AUG 2016

90+1'  The fourth official indicates 3 minutes added time.

03:17 (IST)5 AUG 2016

90'  Play looks a little scrappy now, as both teams try deperately to score the winner.

03:16 (IST)5 AUG 2016

89'  Max Meyer makes way for Max Christiansen.

03:16 (IST)5 AUG 2016

88'  Torres puts a nice ball into the box and finds Bueno, who heads it wide.

03:15 (IST)5 AUG 2016

88'  Sven Bender and Guzman get into a bit of pushing and pulling, but both players manage to keep a cool head.

03:14 (IST)5 AUG 2016

87'  Germany are looking to attack, but the Mexicans have all but two players in their own half.

03:13 (IST)5 AUG 2016

83'  A series of substitutions were made. Mexico bring on a pair of fresh legs, while the Germans bring on two players from the bench.

03:07 (IST)5 AUG 2016

79'  Goal! Ginter scores the equaliser for Germany. Meyer whipped the ball in from a corner, and Ginter rose above everybody else to head the ball past the helpless keeper. 2-2. What a game!

03:06 (IST)5 AUG 2016

78'  Gnabry makes a beautiful run in the box with the ball, leaving the defenders behind him looking incompetent. But he finishes the move with another tame shot.

03:04 (IST)5 AUG 2016

03:03 (IST)5 AUG 2016

74'  Horn makes a brilliant save to deny another Mexican goal. The striker found himself in a shocking amount of space in the box and fired a fierce shot at the keeper, who was up to it.

03:01 (IST)5 AUG 2016

73'  Substitution for Mexico. Peralta makes way for Torres.

02:59 (IST)5 AUG 2016

72'  Germany are displaying some slick passing in the opposition half, but are having some difficulty breaking down the defence.

02:58 (IST)5 AUG 2016

70'  Gnabry takes another pop at goal from the left side, but it comes back off the post. He looks like the most obvious threat to the Mexicans, as he continuously makes a nuisance of himelf in their final third.

02:56 (IST)5 AUG 2016

68'  There's a scramble in front of the Mexican goal as the Germans pass the ball around it, but nothing of note came of it.

02:54 (IST)5 AUG 2016

02:53 (IST)5 AUG 2016

64'  Three goals in quick succession changed the tone of the game. There's more aggression and passion now. It's an open game, and the remaining half hour promises to be entertaining.

02:50 (IST)5 AUG 2016

61'  Another goal for Mexico! Pizarro scores. Peralta headed a well hit cross onto the crossbar. The ball fell kindly for Pizarro, who simply had to tap it in for the goal. Mexico lead again.

02:47 (IST)5 AUG 2016

60'  Germany put the ball in the back of the net agin, but the goal is disallowed because of a handball by Selke.

02:46 (IST)5 AUG 2016

58'  Goal for Germany! Gnabry finally finds the back of the net with an emphatically hit side-foot shot to beat the keeper and put the ball in the bottom right corner.

02:44 (IST)5 AUG 2016

02:42 (IST)5 AUG 2016

55'  Gnabry with yet another chance wasted. He got to the end of a pass in the Mexican box, but side-footed it wide of the post.

02:43 (IST)5 AUG 2016

52'  Goal! Perez puts the ball into the box from a corner. Peralta gets to it first with his head, and buries the ball in the back of the net. Mexico lead 1-0.

02:38 (IST)5 AUG 2016

51'  It looks as though Mexico are trying to turn up the heat. Most of their players are now in the German half of the field.

02:36 (IST)5 AUG 2016

47'  Gnabry makes a good run with the ball, leaving two defenders to bite the dust. However, he gave it away cheaply yet again. He's getting everything right except the final ball.

02:32 (IST)5 AUG 2016

45'  The teams are back out on the pitch, and Germany get the second half underway as the ref blows the whistle.

02:21 (IST)5 AUG 2016

45+2'  The ref blows for half time. Neither team is dominating. The Germans have 60% possession, but failed to register a single shot on target. The best chance of the first half fell to Hirving Lozano when he was one on one against Horn. Will the Mexicans go on to rue the missed opportunity at the end of the game? It's been a tight first half. Either side could've taken the lead, but neither did.

02:17 (IST)5 AUG 2016

45+2'  German corner. Brandt curls it in, but the ball is easily headed out of the danger area by a defender.

02:15 (IST)5 AUG 2016

45+1'  The fourth official indicates there will be two minutes of added time.

02:15 (IST)5 AUG 2016

45'  Selke loses his cool for a bit, as he is fouled by Lozano. The German feels he was intentionally kicked.

02:13 (IST)5 AUG 2016

43'  Gnabry plays a pathetic ball into the box from the left. Straight to a defender's feet. Wasted opportunity.

02:12 (IST)5 AUG 2016

41'  Mexico on a good looking counter-attack. Perez finds Lozano with a long ball, but he couldn't do anything productive with it.

02:10 (IST)5 AUG 2016

40'  Selke is fouled on the half line.

02:06 (IST)5 AUG 2016

36'  Gnabry muscled his way into the box, but nothing materialised from the move.

02:04 (IST)5 AUG 2016

35'  Mexico had a decent spell of possession in the opposition half, but Gutierrez wastes it with a speculative shot from far out. That one went into the stands.

02:03 (IST)5 AUG 2016

34'  Perez tries to drive it low into the bottom left corner, but hits it wide instead.

02:02 (IST)5 AUG 2016

33'  Mexico have a free kick in a promising position.

02:09 (IST)5 AUG 2016

28'  Goretzka comes off for Arsenal youngster Serge Gnabry. He seems to have picked up an injury. He hands over the captain's armband to Max Meyer.

01:58 (IST)5 AUG 2016

27'  Horn saves a shot from Lozano! The ball fell to the Mexican inside the box at the end of a good move, but he wasn't able to beat the goalkeeper.

01:56 (IST)5 AUG 2016

26'  Lars Bender is booked for a cynical challenge on Lozano, who was on the break in a counter-attack.

01:55 (IST)5 AUG 2016

25'  The German back line are content to pass the ball between themselves until an opening breaks.

01:53 (IST)5 AUG 2016

23'  Germany are beginning to dominate possession. Mexico aren't getting much of the ball now.

01:52 (IST)5 AUG 2016

22'  Lazano gives away an unnecessary free kick just to the right of their box.  Brandt whips it into the box, from where it is cleared. The ball falls to Klostermann, who takes a wild shot at goal.

01:50 (IST)5 AUG 2016

20'  Germany are now applying some pressure on the Mexicans with sustained attacks in the final third.

01:49 (IST)5 AUG 2016

18'  Another move by the Germans falls apart. Sven Bender is playing a key role for the Germans, charging forward from deep. He's been involved in every decent move by the Germans.

01:46 (IST)5 AUG 2016

16'  Mexico had the only shot on target so far in this game - the unsuccessful effort by Bueno.
