Full time: It was a tightly contested game that truly burst to life in the second half. Considering the balance of play, a draw seems to be a fair result. Gnabry was Germany's most direct attacking threat in the game. The Arsenal man put on a great display, lacking only the final ball. For the Mexicans, Hirving Lozano was their greatest asset in the game, causing problems for the German defence with his pace. Both managers will be reasonably pleased with what they saw from their teams tonight, as they take a point each from the opening fixture of group C.

74' Horn makes a brilliant save to deny another Mexican goal. The striker found himself in a shocking amount of space in the box and fired a fierce shot at the keeper, who was up to it.

72' Germany are displaying some slick passing in the opposition half, but are having some difficulty breaking down the defence.

70' Gnabry takes another pop at goal from the left side, but it comes back off the post. He looks like the most obvious threat to the Mexicans, as he continuously makes a nuisance of himelf in their final third.

68' There's a scramble in front of the Mexican goal as the Germans pass the ball around it, but nothing of note came of it.

64' Three goals in quick succession changed the tone of the game. There's more aggression and passion now. It's an open game, and the remaining half hour promises to be entertaining.

61' Another goal for Mexico! Pizarro scores. Peralta headed a well hit cross onto the crossbar. The ball fell kindly for Pizarro, who simply had to tap it in for the goal. Mexico lead again.

60' Germany put the ball in the back of the net agin, but the goal is disallowed because of a handball by Selke.

58' Goal for Germany! Gnabry finally finds the back of the net with an emphatically hit side-foot shot to beat the keeper and put the ball in the bottom right corner.

55' Gnabry with yet another chance wasted. He got to the end of a pass in the Mexican box, but side-footed it wide of the post.

52' Goal! Perez puts the ball into the box from a corner. Peralta gets to it first with his head, and buries the ball in the back of the net. Mexico lead 1-0.

51' It looks as though Mexico are trying to turn up the heat. Most of their players are now in the German half of the field.

47' Gnabry makes a good run with the ball, leaving two defenders to bite the dust. However, he gave it away cheaply yet again. He's getting everything right except the final ball.

The best chance of the first half fell to Hirving Lozano when he was one on one against Horn. Will the Mexicans go on to rue the missed opportunity at the end of the game? It's been a tight first half. Either side could've taken the lead, but neither did.
