Sensational Sameer got to a match point at 21-20 but erred for 21-21

17:40 (IST)26 NOV 2016

He forces The Great Dane into error again for 20-20 wow

17:39 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Sameer putting up such a smart display by making the Dane move all over the court. It erased two game points from 17-20 to make it 19-20

17:36 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Sameer showing excellent maturity by luring his illustrious rival to the backcourt and then finishes the shot with a backhand at the net. He is now 17-18

17:34 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Jorgensen went up 14-13 with some superb body shots before Sameer came up with a powerful jump smash to get a point. However, he could not continue the momentum any more as the Dane has come back for 17-14

17:31 (IST)26 NOV 2016

The crowd goes delirious with joy as Verma comes back for 12-12 and then even gets the lead for 13-12

17:31 (IST)26 NOV 2016

The two-point gap continues with the Dane now leading 12-10.

17:30 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Sameer took four consecutive points after the break to go as close as 9-11 as the Dane lost his sharpness.

17:25 (IST)26 NOV 2016

In an opposite of the first game, it is now Sameer's turn to make a comeback as the Dane keeps on erring. The Indian has made it 5-7.

17:22 (IST)26 NOV 2016

GAME 2

Change of ends not proving to be good for the Indian. The Indian is struggling with the short points and the Dane is simply dictating the pace. Jorgensen jumps to 4-1

17:20 (IST)26 NOV 2016

This is an inspired performance from Sameer!!!!!

17:19 (IST)26 NOV 2016

A Haw-Eye challenge goes in favour of Sameer who TAKES THE FIRST GAME 21-19

17:18 (IST)26 NOV 2016

But the Dane is making a comeback here and has closed in on 19-20

17:17 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Much to the delight of the crowd, Sameer is putting up a mind-blowing display of defence and retrieval so much so that even Jorgensen's racquet got broken trying to keep up pace with him. Verma went up 18-17 and that rattled the Dane who lost four straight points to trail 17-20.

17:14 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Sameer's retrieval skills are on point as the shuttle beautifully floats over the net to land on the line for 16-16

17:12 (IST)26 NOV 2016

They are back to level at 14-14 after Sameer's Hawk-Eye challenge turned unsuccessful.

17:10 (IST)26 NOV 2016

*13-11, not 14-11

17:09 (IST)26 NOV 2016

The scene has changed since the match resumed after the break. It is  now the third seed who has the upper hand and has taken three points in a row for 14-11

17:07 (IST)26 NOV 2016

That could not deter Verma, who grabbed two quick points to take a slender lead of 11-10 at half-time.

17:06 (IST)26 NOV 2016

There is a reason why Jorgensen is the World No. 3. He erased the huge deficit to even snatch the lead for the first time at 10-9

17:04 (IST)26 NOV 2016

The third seed closed in to 6-8 but missed a crucial smash to trail 6-9.

17:03 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Points are faster now and it is the Dane whose racquet is making most of the errors. Verma is now up 8-4

17:02 (IST)26 NOV 2016

This is extremely impressive from Verma, who now leads 7-1

17:01 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Great footwork from both players and the rallies continue to be hard-fought. Currently, Sameer is up 4-1 and receiving a lot of cheer from the crowd.

16:53 (IST)26 NOV 2016

Good afternoon and welcome to the Sportskeeda Liveblog of the Hong Kong Open Superseries semi-finals. World No. 43 Sameer Verma is the only Indian remaining in the men's singles draw. Sameer has been in good form and this is his maiden semi-final at any Superseries event.

But the task ahead is challenging as he faces the third seed Jan O Jorgensen, who has come to Hong Kong with a rich vein of form, winning the China Open last Sunday. Suffice to say that the Dane is the hot favourite to win this match even though Sameer does have it in him to make this a tough contest.
