4 ways that Brock Lesnar's UFC return could affect his WWE career

Brock Lesnar returns to the UFC octagon for his first match in 1653 days at UFC 200.

The beast is getting back into the Octagon on July 9th to face Mark Hunt at UFC 200. The former UFC and WWE champion who makes his return to the UFC for the first time since December 2011, recently stated that he doesn’t care if his UFC return affects his WWE career.

Regardless to what Brock might be saying, he’s signed to a fairly long-term contract with WWE and It was recently revealed that they are not happy with his decision to fight Mark Hunt at UFC 200.

Brock’s return to UFC came as a total shock to both MMA and WWE fans alike and in an unprecedented move, WWE and UFC sort of seem to be working together in regards to the Lesnar fight.

However, it definitely is a riskier move for WWE because Mark Hunt will be the favourite in the fight on July 9th.

How will Brock’s return to the octagon affect him and WWE? Here are 4 possible scenarios.

#4 Match ends as a draw or Brock loses by judges decision

After such a long lay-off, losing by decision to a KO artist in Mark Hunt is still pretty acceptable

If the fight between Lesnar and Hunt ends as a draw by judges decision, WWE would see that as a win for them regardless of what Brock might feel. They could say that Brock returned to the UFC after 5 years and held his own against a seasoned veteran.

A draw would likely slightly increase Brock’s standing in the WWE when he returns as someone who can still be sold as the most dangerous man in the company.Brock would likely return to the main event scene once he returns to WWE programming.

In all likeliness, even if Brock goes all the way with Hunt and loses by judges decision, that wouldn’t really affect his standing in the WWE either. A loss by decision against a fighter as dangerous as Mark Hunt is nothing to be ashamed of.

#3 Brock gets injured

No wonder the WWE aren’t too happy with Brock fighting at UFC 200

This is one of the worst case scenarios for WWE.

Brock is 38 and hasn’t fought in a MMA match for almost 5 years. There’s definitely a chance that Brock leaves UFC 200 with an injury which would really throw WWE’s plan for him at SummerSlam into jeopardy.

Brock is one of the top attraction that WWE has on their roster now, and him missing SummerSlam would definitely hurt the event.

It would throw whatever long-term booking plans WWE has for Brock into disarray.

#2 Brock wins

A victory for Lesnar could have far-reaching implications

If Brock Lesnar manages to beat Mark Hunt at UFC 200 it will be a big deal, especially for the WWE.

Expect Brock to get a major push as soon as he returns to action and he would probably be pushed into the title picture, especially with the brand split coming. Brock could even get his title shot as soon as SummerSlam, to cash in on the buzz following his UFC victory.

Another potential problem with Brock winning is what if he wants to fight in the UFC again? What would Vince say then? Could he say anything?

#1 Brock loses by KO

This is the scenario that raises questions about how in the world is WWE letting this happen? Even though we know that the WWE is sports entertainment with predetermined results, a large part of professional wrestling is how a wrestler is perceived, especially by fans.

A large part of Brock’s current WWE run is his invincible aura. This will get smashed to smithereens if Brock gets knock out cold by Mark Hunt. Lesnar will never regain his air of invincibility and would inevitably end up losing some of his current luster too.

With Lesnar going into SummerSlam after a humiliating defeat, it will also take the sheen from whoever gets put over Lesnar next, especially with Lesnar getting knocked out fresh on the minds of fans.
