Joe Rogan is a household name in the MMA world, even though he is not a fighter. Joseph James Joe Rogan is a comedian, actor and martial artist. He currently serves as the chief color commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. A Tae Kwon Do and Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, Rogan has been with the UFC since first appearing as the backstage interviewer at UFC 12: Judgment Day in 1997. Besides the UFC, Joe has also hosted the NBC reality show Fear Factor, The Joe Rogan Experience podcast and has also acted in several movies. His new show, Joe Rogan Questions Everything, premiered on Syfy in July 2013.

During high school, Rogan was a practitioner of Taekwondo and gained a black belt at age 15. He soon became the Massachusetts full contact Tae Kwon Do champion for four consecutive years. By the age of 19, Rogan won the US Open Tae Kwon Do Championship and as lightweight champion went on to beat both the middle and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship. He started judo at the age of 20 and after a year of training received blue belt. In 1996, Rogan began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Carlson Gracie at his school in Hollywood, California. He is a black belt in Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, a style of no-gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and a black belt in gi Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Jean Jacques Machado. His record as a kick-boxer is 2-1.

While martial arts have always been central to Rogan’s life, it’s his sense of humor and wit that brought him to the big time. A stand-up comic who got his big break on the hit NBC sitcom NewsRadio in the mid-’90s, he most famously went on to host the reality show Fear Factor. Still, it’s fighting that helps Rogan feel at the top of his game. Besides having a huge array of talents as well as equally demanding pursuits, one of Joe Rogan’s recurring themes in his work and life is the use and support of entheogens such as cannabis, psilocybin mushrooms and DMT, toward the exploration and enhancement of consciousness. Rogan supports the medical and recreational use of cannabis. He has also starred in the marijuana documentary The Union: The Business behind Getting High. Rogan was featured in the History Channel documentary, Marijuana: A Chronic History, as an advocate of legalized medical use of marijuana. He is also the presenter of the 2010 documentary DMT: The Spirit Molecule.
