CM Punk's first UFC opponent announced

Finally, Punk has an opponent

The holy grail of all discussions has undoubtedly been CM Punk’s first UFC opponent, and after months of speculation, UFC has finally announced the fighter who would welcome the former WWE star into the competitive world of MMA.

Mickey Gall, who was scouted by Dana White on the show Looking for a fight, would be Punk’s first test inside the Octagon. Gall fought in the Fight Night 82 event and made quick work of Mike Jackson, finishing him off with a rear-naked choke.

The winner of the fight was promised a shot at Punk, and Gall – who previously called out Punk specifically – made sure he gets the high profile fight in his adolescent career.

What’s interesting is that Punk was at ringside closely watching the fight, and after the bout ended, he entered the Octagon, shook hands with Mickey Gall and exchanged a few words with the 24-year-old New Jersey native.

Below is the video of the interaction:

Gall – who now holds a 2-0 MMA record – is the perfect pairing for a green Punk, who would look to silence his critics and prove to the world that he does belong inside the Octagon.

When the fight would take place is still not known yet, but it would most likely happen later this year.
