MMA News: How much did CM Punk earn from Reebok after UFC 203?

CM Punk got an overall good payout.

CM Punk finally stepped into the octagon after nearly two years of signing with the UFC. However, things went as worse as he could imagine and he ended up getting submitted within two minutes of the first round without even getting a single bit of offense on his opponent, Mickey Gall.

However, money clearly wasn’t an issue. After UFC 203, the fighters on the card took home UFC Athlete outfitting pay – a program launched after UFC’s deal with Reebok, which amounts to a total sum of $215,000. How much did CM Punk earn? We answer that below

Both CM Punk and Mickey Gall earned $2,500 each from Reebok after the bout.

Under this athlete outfitting program, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC fights, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights and Strikeforce bouts. Fighters with 1-5 bouts receive $2,500 per appearance; 6-10 bouts get $5,000; 11-15 bouts earn $10,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $15,000; and 21 bouts and more get $20,000. Additionally, champions earn $40,000 while title challengers get $30,000.

It was also reported yesterday that CM Punk received $500,000 for his MMA debut , while his opponent Mickey Gall who defeated him earned $30,000 – $15,000 to show up and another $15,000 for the win.

Courtesy of MMA Junkie, here are the full Reebok payouts from UFC 203:

Stipe Miocic: $40,000 vs. Alistair Overeem: $30,000

Fabricio Werdum: $10,000 vs. Travis Browne: $10,000

Mickey Gall: $2,500vs. CM Punk: $2,500

Jimmie Rivera: $2,500 vs. Urijah Faber: $20,000

Jessica Andrade: $5,000 vs. Joanne Calderwood: $2,500

Bethe Correia: $5,000 vs. Jessica Eye: $5,000

Brad Tavares: $10,000 vs. Caio Magalhaes: $5,000

Nik Lentz: $15,000 vs. Michael McBride: $2,500

Drew Dober: $5,000 vs. Jason Gonzalez: $2,500

Yancy Medeiros: $5,000 vs. Sean Spencer: $5,000

Naturally, it was quite a big payday for Punk. The only reason he was given a shot in the UFC was the fact that he was able to sell Pay-Per-Views. And he definitely did, as he was possibly the biggest box office draw of the UFC 203 card. However, as many feared and anticipated, it didn’t work out for him. It is unlikely that he is going to return to a UFC octagon anytime soon and it is likely that he will go to a smaller promotion and try to work his way up. As Dana White himself said, UFC is a tough place to learn.
