Both Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor refuse to fight Jose Aldo in Brazil

Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor unite, refuse to fight Jose Aldo in Brazil

Due to Jose Aldo’s rib injury, Chad Mendes and Conor McGregor will now be fighting for the UFC featherweight interim title at UFC 189 on July 11, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. This will be the first time ever UFC will have someone other than Aldo to call featherweight champion. As we reported earlier, Jose is said to make a comeback this October. So once he is back, he will have to fight the interim title winner to unify the belts and reclaim sole ownership to his title.

But this fight will not be happening in Brazil as both Mendes and McGregor on the Wednesday's (July 1, 2015) media conference call have declared that they will not give Aldo the home advantage. Conor said:

"It's the McGregor division now, he went running, it's my call now. So if he wants to come back with his tail between his legs, that's no problem. He can come back and we can do the stadium in Dublin. But it's my call now."

Chad who has lost two title fights to Aldo in Brazil (UFC 142 in 2012 and UFC 179 in 2014) so far, said "I fought the guy twice in Brazil now. If I get that belt, I am fighting that dude in the States this time.”

If Conor ends up on the winning side, he’ll fight Aldo in Dublin, Ireland, on Oct. 24, 2015. When UFC make a return to Irishman's homeland after an year.
