British Grand Prix: Marc Marquez storms to pole position

Round 12 of the 2013 Moto GP season saw the 20 year old star driver Marc Marquez claim his 6th Pole Position of his short 12 race MotoGP career. The Honda driver beat reigning World Champion and Spanish compatriot Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo by just over one tenth to put his ride on top with a 2:00.691 in comparison to Lorenzo’s 2:00.819.

British rider Cal Crutchlow gave the local fans a lot to cheer about after qualifying 3rd for his Yamaha Tech 3 team at the Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

Marquez’s teammate and Championship contender Dani Pedrosa qualified 5th fastest ahead of 6 time MotoGP Champion Valentino Rossi.

Marquez has been rewriting all records to his name after becoming the youngest driver to win 4 consecutive races after last week’s Czech Republic Grand Prix. The Honda rider has been on the podium in 10 out of the 11 races this season and is looking to claim the championship in his rookie year. He currently leads the Championship with 213 points, a full 26 points ahead of his teammate Pedrosa while reigning World Champion Lorenzo is in 3rd, a further 18 points behind.

Can Marquez extend his lead further or will Lorenzo and Pedrosa begin to stop the young gun. We will find out tomorrow at the Hertz British Grand Prix 2013.
