Casey Stoner seriously injured in high-speed accident at Suzuka

MotoGP veteran, retired Australian rider and former champion Casey Stoner was participating at the 8 Hours Endurance Race in Suzuka, Japan yesterday when he suffered serious injuries, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.

29-year-old Stoner, who had been leading the race, is associated with Musashi-Honda, suffered multiple fractures in the high-speed crash.

He tweeted about his injuries fom the hospital later:

Among the injuries the rider suffered were a shattered shoulder blade. Missing a turn whilst at full speed, he veered off the track with immense force, Stoner was thrown from his bike onto the grass as the vehicle itself landed some distance away in the centre of the track.

Further examination revealed that Stoner’s throttle was stuck, which was what had led to the accident. Luckily for the two-time World Champion, he has not suffered life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
