San Marino GP: Marc Marquez on pole again

Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez stormed to pole position in Saturday qualifying for the 2013 San Marino Grand Prix. The rookie set a new lap record en route to his 6th pole position in 13 races.

Marquez set a lap time of 1:32.915 to take pole by over half a second. Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo took second position, a tenth faster than his teammate Valentino Rossi in 3rd.

Marquez’s teammate Dani Pedrosa took 4th ahead of Cal Crutchlow in 5th.

Marquez managed to beat Casey Stoner’s two year old lap record. He is looking for his 6th Grand Prix victory this weekend and eventually claim the Championship in his rookie year.

Marc leads the drivers’ championship by 30 points over his teammate Pedrosa. Reigning World Champion Lorenzo is in 3rd, 39 points behind Marquez.
