Yeongam (South Korea), May 17 (IANS) Indian racing driver Aditya Patel finished fourth and third in the double-header of the Audi R8 LMS Cup here on Sunday, though he was made to fight all the way.

The weekend finishes took Patel's tally to 42 points after four rounds, just two behind leader Rahel Frey of Switzerland. The Indian had finished on podium in China where two rounds were held in March.

The first race of the weekend was challenging for the 26-year old Chennai-based Patel. After qualifying in third place, Patel got off to a good start, but was however hit from behind by another driver.

It caused Patel to fall all the way down to 18th position. However, in the laps to come, he fought his way up and finished sixth on track. He was later elevated to fourth place after penalties were awarded to two drivers in front of him.

In the next race, Patel had a better outing as he drove another brilliant race to finish third, just 3.188 seconds behind the winner.

A"It was not the easiest weekend for me. The Korea International Circuit is probably one of the toughest circuits to learn, with almost 20 corners over a lap distance.

"Unfortunately, due to less practice time, I was definitely on the back foot going into the weekend. But in the end, it's good to come away with a podium finish and many good points.

"The first race was a bit of a nightmare after being punted out on the start, but I really did enjoy making my way back up the field! I'd like to thank Audi India, JK Tyres and Jubilant motorworks for all their support as well," said Patel after the race.
