Mohammed, Ricky & Chirag on Pole in JK National Karting Championship

Round 2 of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Karting Championship kicked off at the Chicane circuit outside Hyderabad under near perfect conditions. After torrential rain in Round 1, drivers welcomed the cloudy conditions during qualifying.

The top level of Indian Karting saw intense competition amongst all three classes – the Micro, the Junior & the Senior.

Rayo Racing’s Mohammed Nalwalla who dominated practice with quickest times throughout, predictably bagged a well deserved pole position. He qualified on top with a laptime of 50.446. Manav Sharma of BPC Racing was 2nd 0.45 seconds behind Mohammed. Another Rayo Racing member – Mrinal Chatterjee was 3rd, a further 1 tenth behind.

The senior category saw an extremely close battle between Ricky Donison of BPC bagged pole with a laptime of 50.352 seconds. Rayo Racing&rsquoAmeya Bafna was an extremely close 2nd just 0.02 seconds adrift. Chittesh Mandody of Darkdon racing was third.

The Micro Max category saw Chirag Ghorpade of BPC racing on pole clocking 55.851, ahead of his team mate Ruhan Alva. Third went to Kunal Vinod of Meco Racing The racers in all three categories will race in 2 heats later today, the results of which will decide the grid position for the pre final tomorrow.

Mohammed Nalwalla of Rayo Racing leads the Junior Championship while the Senior is led by Ricky Donison of BPC. The pre finals & finals will be conducted tomorrow at the 1.2km Chicane circuit.
