Cornerback Dexter McDougle practices fully for the first time

Off comes the red (non-contact) jersey, and out comes an “impressive” McDougle, as per Rex Ryan’s comments in today’s press conference.

It was the third-round cornerback’s first opportunity to fully showcase his skills in Organized Team Activities (OTAs), having mainly been relegated to in-class study and walk-throughs, prior.

I’m Just Happy

Dexter Mcdougle

McDougle spoke like a ‘kid in a candy store’ when conversing with media, today.

“I’m just happy. I finally got out there, getting in there with the team and start running around, flying around trying to make plays out there, so I was really happy today. They gave me the heads up a couple of days ago and I’m out there. I’m just happy right now. It’s been, what, since September since I’ve (had the chance) to play football, so I’m just happy. I’m just happy.”

McDougle also said that his shoulder feels good, but he is still working on his strength with Jets personnel.

It was a fine opportunity for his teammates to poke some fun at the rookie’s expense.

All of the guys were like, “Oh, he’s out of the red, he’s out of the red.” So it was just a really good time today. I’m happy and it will keep getting better from here.

If only we had a Hard Knocks-type view into what else the rooks will be experiencing this offseason. Good luck trying to tie Amaro to the goal post.
