Manchester City’s Argentinian star Sergio Aguero has expressed his desire to win more English Premier League (EPL) titles for his club.
“I want to win the title this season – and then many more seasons with City after that. We have had a great season but there is so much more to come from this team,” Aguero was quoted saying by British Media.
Aguero, 23, whose goals this season have driven City to the top position, insisted on celebrations not been confined to the blue half of the Manchester if they go on to win.
Many of his fellow countrymen back in South America have adopted City as their second team through their Argentine connections, with Pablo Zabaleta and Carlos Tevez also in the squad.
“Argentinians love good football – and City have played some great football this season. They appreciate that back home and it makes the team very popular.
“We have three Argentine players in the squad and that generates more buzz,” he added.
Aguero costed City a club-record pound 35 million last summer but has hit 29 goals this season – 22 of them in the Premier League.
The performances of Aguero had made him to be considered as an key member of the team.
“It is always gratifying to be considered an important member of the team by the fans and hearing your name being echoed around the stadium is quite a rush.
“It makes me want to give even more when I go out on the pitch,” he said.
Crediting his teammates for his quick adaptation to the league, Aguero scored eight goals in his first five league games.
“I was able to adapt quickly, to the team and to the Premier League. That was all due to my teammates, the club and the fans.”
Aguero has played alongside both Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli for City this season. But his recent partnership with Tevez really sparked City’s title charge back into life.
City by defeating Newcastle United 2-0 drew themselves a step closer to the title.
