New Delhi: Jaypee Cement has expanded its sponsorship support to include three Indian hockey stars – Sardar Singh, Sandeep Singh, and Shivendra Singh. The living cricketing legend, Sachin Tendulkar, will, however, continue to be Jaypee Cement’s main Brand ambassador.
The announcement was made by Jaypee Cement’s Executive Vice President, Mr. Shiva Dixit, at a glittering function at Jaypee Golf and Spa Resort, Greater Noida today.
There was a time, Mr. Shiva Dixit said, when Indian hockey team used to dominate at the international level. But for the past several years India has not been doing too well in international competitions. “We are sponsoring these three hockey players and hope that they will help India regain its rightful place at the very top of international hockey. I will particularly pray for our hockey team’s success at the forthcoming London Olympics,” Mr. Shiva Dixit stressed.
The players, who were present at the press conference, thanked Jaypee Cement for sponsoring them and expressed optimism about Indian team’s prospects at London Olympics.
Mr. Shiva Dixit pointed out that besides sponsoring various sports persons, Jaypee Group has also invested a large amount in developing world class sport infrastructure. Jaypee Sports City, where the Group had organised a hugely successful F1 Grand Prix last October, will also feature 1 lakh-seater cricket stadium, a hockey stadium, tennis courts, golf course and various other sporting facilities.
