Manchester City took a huge step towards the Premier League title as they beat bitter city rivals Manchester United 1-0 here on Monday.

A first-half goal by Vincent Kompany was enough to send City above United on goal difference with two matches remaining.

City won the last of their two English league titles in 1968.
