Basanta Bahadur Rana: A Brief Biography

Basanta Bahadur Rana is an Indian athlete who competes in racewalking. He competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London representing India in the 50 km race walk event event. Basanta qualified for the Olympics at the 2012 IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Saransk, Russia. Though he finished 36th in the 50 km race walk event of the Olympics, he beat the previous national record of 4:16:22 clocked by his mentor Gurdev Singh, thus setting a new national record of 3:56:48.
