Bastian Schweinsteiger is a German footballer born in the city of Kolbermoor in Western Germany on 1 August 1984.
Schweinsteiger has served the German national football team from 2004 to 2016 and scored 24 goals for his nation.
Schweinsteiger is a right-footed player and mostly plays as the central midfielder.
The legend has bagged eight Bundesliga titles, seven DFB-Pokal titles, one UEFA Champions League title, and a UEFA Super Cup title for Bayern Munich, in addition to a FIFA Club World Cup title for Germany.
Background
Schweinsteiger began training at the age of three with FV Oberaudorf. He made it to the Bayern Munich youth team in the year 1998.
He continued to serve at Bayern Munich for four years and later made it to their senior team.
Schweinsteiger, in the year 2002, helped Bayern clinch the German youth championship.
Debut
Schweinsteiger was 18 years old when he made his debut for Bayern Munich as a late substitute in a UEFA Champions League game in 2002.
The young lad created a goal for Markus Feulner within few minutes of stepping on to the field.
He served for Bayern for 14 years and continued to flourish in Bayern, helping the club win several trophies.

He was awarded the highest sports award in Germany, Silbernes Lorbeerblatt in the year 2006, 2010 and 2014. He was the Germany national team Player of the Year in 2010. Also, he was the Footballer of the Year in Germany in 2013.
Club Career
For fourteen years Schweinsteiger was part of Bayern Munich. Playing in midfield, he made 342 appearances for the Bavarian giants and scored 45 goals.
In the year 2015, he was signed in the Manchester United on a three-year contract for a fee of €9 million (£6.5 million).
He was the first German ever to make it to the first team of Manchester United. He scored his first goal which was an equalizer header against Leicester City.
Presently, he plays for Chicago Fire of the Major League Soccer and scored two goals in a 2–2 home draw against Montreal Impact.
Retirement
Schweinsteiger was struggling with a knee injury in 2016 and also throughout Euro 2016. He retired from international football after the tournament and Manuel Neuer succeeded him as the German national football captain.
