Devendro Singh: A Brief Biography

Devendro Singh a Manipurian boxer from India who competes in the light-flyweight division. His sister, Sushila Devi, is a former national boxing champion and helps him with his training. After defeating Asian Amateur Boxing Championships silver medallists Nanao Singh Thokchom and Amandeep Singh during the trials of the World Championships held in the Army Sports Institute, he was selected to participate in the World Amateur Boxing Championships. Though he lost out to South Korean opponent Shin Jong-Hun by a points difference of 16 to 28, he qualified for the Summer Olympics to be held in London. Devendro qualified for the quarter-finals after defeating the 2008 Beijing Olympics silver medalist Pürevdorjiin Serdamba 16-11. He then faced Paddy Barnes of Ireland, but was defeated by the bronze medalist at 23-18 thus getting knocked out of the Olympic games.
