Jayesh Rane: A Brief Biography

Jayesh Rane, an Indian Footballer was born on 20th February, 1993 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is a right-footed centre forward who plays for ATK. He has won the Indian Super League in 2015 with Chennaiyin FC.


Background


Jayesh Rane joined the youth team of Mumbai FC in 2008. He played for the U20 team of Mumbai FC and became the leading goal scorer of the 2012 U20 I - League. Rane scored 13 goals in that season.


His fine performances earned him a place in the senior team as he was called up for the first team during the Federation Cup but could not make his debut. Rane made his senior debut in November 2012 when he came in as a substitute against Salgaocar FC in which Mumbai lost 1-0.


Jayesh scored his professional goal in October 2013 against Salgaocar FC in lost cause as Mumbai lost 3-1.


In 2014, Rane was drafted by Chennaiyin FC for the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League. He played 5 matches for Chennaiyin FC and could not score any goal that season.


In 2015 season he played total of 7 matches and could not be effective. Chennaiyin won that season beating FC Goa in the final.


Rane scored his first goal for Chennaiyin FC in the next season during the opening match against Atletico de Kolkata.


In 2017 Indian Super League he joined Atletico de Kolkata.


Debut


Rane was selected to represent the India U23 team during the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship Qualifiers. He made his debut against Uzbekistan U23 in which he played full match and could not score.


Rise to Glory


Jayesh Rane came into limelight due to his performances in the wing position and his ability to dribble past defenders. He earned praises from various managers across the league and he became a prime member of the Aizawl FC during the 2017 I league.


Aizawl FC won the league that season.


Low Points


Even though he played some good football in the club level football he could not attract interest from the National Selectors.


Club Career


Jayesh Rane started his career with Mumbai FC in 2008 as a youth footballer. He made his senior debut in 2012 and played there for 4 seasons.


In 2014, he played for Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League. He played for Chennaiyin FC for 3 seasons before moving to Aizawl FC in the I League and now plays for Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League.
