Prabir Das: A Brief Biography

Prabir Das is an Indian International footballer who currently plays for the Indian Super League side ATK. He was born on 20th December 1993 in West Bengal.


The right-footed player does the Number 33 behind his back and won the I-League with Mohun Bagan during the 2014–15 season and the Federation Cup the following season. He even won the Indian Super League with ATK in the third season of ISL.


Background


On 31st October 2011, Das made his debut during the 2012 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers against Turkmenistan.


He scored in the 82nd minute to confirm India's 3–1 victory to help register India their first victory in the tournament. Delhi based club Pailan Arrows signed him in the 2012 season at the age of 18.


Debut


He made the debut Pailan Arrows in the 2012 season of I-League. On 23rd September 2012, Das scored his first goal for the club in the 2012 Indian Federation Cup 69th minute to give Pailan the victory 2–1.


The gave them 2-1 win over the Shillong Lajong. His first I-League goal came against the same oppositions at Salt Lake Stadium which went on to be the only goal that was scored in the match.


Rise to glory


On 15 November 2013, Das joined Goan giant Dempo SC for a year-long loan spell. He made his club debut on 27 November 2013 against Pune F.C in an I-League match which ended in a 1-1 stalemate. He made 10 appearances for the club in the League.


On 13 June 2015 Das signed a two-year contract with Mohun Bagan A.C. He made 5 appearances for the club in the 2015 season.


A month later his move to the Kolkata based club, he was drafted to play for Delhi Dynamos in the 2015 Indian Super League making 4 appearances throughout the season.


In July 2016, Das returned to the ISL but this time with the ATK. He played a vital role in ATK’s pursuit of the trophy for the second time and succeeded as they defeated Kerala Blasters in the final of the 2016 edition.


On 5 July 2017, he signed the contract with Atlético de Kolkata tying him with the club till the end of 2020 season.


Low points


On 12 April 2013, Das collapsed on the pitch due to heatstroke in a match against Prayag United. It was 37 degrees Celsius and was .given extensive care after being taken to the hospital by Ambulance.


Das’s wife Tanushree Das had filed an FIR against the ATK fullback in December 2017, for allegedly not letting her into their home and forced her into an abortion. However, Prabir accuses her of stealing money from him.


Club career


Prabir played for Pailan Arrows in the 2012 season and made 24 appearances for the club before making a move to Dempo on 15th November 2013.


He spent a season there and was eventually loaned out to the newly formed team FC Goa that contested in the Indian Super League.


After making just one appearance for them, Prabir was called back Dempo the following season. He made just 2 appearances that season.


Kolkata based Mohun Bagan signed him on a 2-year contract. Delhi Dynamos signed him for the second edition of the tournament where he played 6 matches.


The 2016 season saw him with the ATK side where he was instrumental for the side as they won the 2016 edition.


On 5 July 2017, he signed for ATK on a permanent move.
