2015 Vodafone Sirmur Cup all set to unfold a spectacular show of horsemanship

Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunications service providers, today announced the commencement of the much awaited thrilling polo tournament – the Vodafone Sirmur Cup 2015. The tournament, organised in association with the Rajasthan Polo Club, will commence on Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The marquee Vodafone Sirmur Cup Polo tournament will unfold a daily visual treat for sport lovers and spectators alike concluding with the Grand Finale on Sunday, February 1, 2015,

The signature Vodafone Sirmur Cup trophy was unveiled today at the hands of H.R.H. Maharaj Narendra Singh, in the august presence of Mr. Amit Bedi, Business Head – Rajasthan, Vodafone India, Maharaj Jai Singh, Vice President of RPC (Rajasthan Polo Club) and Mr. Digvijay Singh, Secretary of RPC, amongst a host of other elitists.

Addressing media persons at a Press Conference in Jaipur today, Amit Bedi, Business Head – Rajasthan, Vodafone India, said, “We feel extremely privileged to present the 12th edition of the Vodafone Sirmur Cup, a tournament that has become a hallmark of sorts in the world of Polo. The Vodafone Sirmur Cup is deeply embedded in Rajasthan’s culture and with the patronage of the Royal family, has risen to become a platform where the world’s best players vie to showcase their horsemanship skills. The 2015 edition of the Vodafone Sirmur Cup also heralds twelve years of Vodafone’s continued endeavour to support and promote the legacy of Polo and give it the recognition it deserves, both in India and internationally. Vodafone Sirmur Cup 2015 presents 6 teams comprising of some of the world’s finest and most experienced Polo players, vying for the coveted trophy. The Vodafone Sirmur Cup 2015 will as per tradition, be a 14 goal tournament, with the highest number of handicaps per player in the Jaipur Polo season. The much anticipated final match will be played on

February 01, 2015, marking the conclusion of the polo season in Jaipur. The entire event is celebrated each year with style, grandeur & pride and brings together a veritable who’s who from not only Rajasthan but global elite circles.

The historic facet of the high-handicap, Vodafone Sirmur Cup tournament is the patronage of Jaipur’s Royal family, to the event. The Vodafone Sirmur trophy is a tribute to the memory of His Royal Highness the late Maharaja Rajendra Singh, Ruler of Sirmur Estate, who was a passionate espouser of the sport. The trophy was initiated in 1982 by Her Royal Highness Rajmata Padmini Devi of Jaipur in the memory of her late father.
