Uganda improves in latest World Rugby rankings

Kampala, July 15 (IANS) Uganda has moved up in the World Rugby rankings to the 48th position with 46.35 points after their impressive show last week which saw them win three matches and qualify for the Africa Rugby Tier 1A.

"We are happy that we have improved," Xinhua quoted Ramzy Olinga, the chief executive officer of the Uganda Rugby Union, as saying.

According to the rankings by World Rugby, New Zealand are on the top with 93.70 points, while South Africa and Ireland are second and third respectively.

Uganda who have been rankled 50th and playing in the lower Tier 1B moved above Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire.

Kenya remained the best ranked nation in the East and Central African region at 30th, while Madagascar who finished second behind Uganda in the just ended Africa Rugby Tier B tournament improved to 41st place.
