Celebration Mysore 1/2 Marathon and 10 K event scheduled on September 7th

Mysore Marathon

The 4th edition of Celebration Mysore 1/2 Marathon and 10K Run 2014 is scheduled on September 7th Sunday. This run has gained popularity over the years and is drawing participation from many first time runners who always wanted to try running.

The event will have 3 categories of runs a) 21K half marathon b) 10K Run and c) 5K Run / Walk.

The Start & Finish is from Balarama Gate of Mysore Palace and the the course is very scenic and takes the runners through the best of the heritage and greenery that Mysore can offer. The run also goes through the green Mysore university campus and 150 acres Kukkrahalli lake bund.

The theme of the event is to celebrate running and the rich culture and heritage of Mysore. Artists from the local music groups and Dollu kunitha drummers join to entertain and energize their running experience. To encourage senior citizens above 60 years of age to participate the registration is free 5K Run/Walk.

It is interesting to note that 50% of the 1/2 Marathon and 10K participants are from Bangalore and they like to travel with their families for a healthy running break in the heritage city. To make it convenient for Bangalore runners, the organizers arrange a bus from Bangalore which will bring them back the same day so that the runners spend the rest of the day at home.

The event will be conducted by Life is calling sports under the auspices of Karnataka Amateur Athletic Association (KAAA) and supported by Mysore City Police. The run is expected to attract runners from across India. Event is supporting the cause of school education with Kalisu Foundation, the volunteers for this foundation is working to encourage lesser privileged students to continue and further their school education.
