Get ready for the TCS World 10k Bangalore 2014 with the Nike+ Run Club (NRC)

NRC

So if you have followed our instructions and signed up for the TCS World 10K Bangalore 2014, let’s get to the next step – how do you get ready for this event?

Nike to the rescue again. The training offered by the Nike+ Run Club is one of the most trusted ways to get ready for any race you might be preparing for, especially the TCS World 10k. Armed with some of the best coaches and pacemakers, NRC (as affectionately dubbed by the regulars) provides clear and focused training for runners.

It won’t matter if you are a beginner or an experienced and fast runner; the club offers run training for runners at all stages – beginner, intermediate and advanced. There are pacemakers within the group who set the pace for each type of runner. All that the runners have to do is choose the pacemaker who will be running closest to their own speed and try and keep up with them. The pacemakers are friendly and also a wealth of information, being experienced runners themselves, and they offer helpful advice to their fellow peers along the way.

The club also trains people on specific forms of running. If one day it’s all about hill training, then another day will find the runners doing an easy run or maybe a tempo run, which helps increase the pace of all runners. While in the past the NRC training used to take place only on Sundays, as the TCS World 10k approaches, the club has kicked its training into high gear and now offers training on both Saturdays and Sundays.

One of the most unique aspects of NRC is the fact that apart from running, it also offers structured workouts pre and post runs. The workouts that are offered by the humble and knowledgeable coaches Kothandapani Kc and Arjuna Award winner Reeth Abraham start with basic dynamic stretches during the warmup sessions and move on to more complex core exercises that are done after the run. These workouts ensure that every runner remains injury free and fit for the race.

NRC is the best place for someone who is just starting out. We are seeing a lot of the younger crowd starting to jump onto the fitness bandwagon and that is exactly where NRC fits in – it helps ease people into the world of running. A lot of the college going kids are coming in drones to seize the day, starting early with a run, clearing their mind, and following it up with a breakfast with friends at one of the regular haunts around central city.

Running isn’t just about fitness, it’s about being able to push yourself beyond your own set limit. It’s about having the wind greet you and watching the sun rise as you zip through the streets while the rest of the world is still hitting the snooze button. It’s about getting that runner’s high at the end of a run where you feel like you could possibly conquer the world. No high on this planet could ever top that feeling.

So what are you waiting for? If you still have not done it, sign up for the open 10K in the TCS World 10K Bangalore 2014 right now! Click on http://tcsworld10k.procamrunning.in/. Registrations close on 26th April 2014, so hurry!
