Procam International announces opening of registration for World 10K

Bengaluru, 19 March 2015: In a city that runs actively through the year, Procam International today announced the registrations, open, for the eighth edition of the prestigious World 10K in the city, fifth under the TCS banner. The TCS World 10K Bengaluru, will be flagged off from the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday, May 17, 2015.

With six race categories headlined by the Elite World 10K for Men and Women that attract the World’s fastest Male and Female road runners. Registrations are also open for amateurs in the Open 10K, the 5.7KM Majja Run, the10KM DHL Corporate Champions, the 4KM Senior Citizens Run and Champions of Disability run. The deadline for close of registrations is on the 25th April 2015.

As a boost for amateur runners, confirmed applicants of Open 10K Run category will be eligible for Priority Line-upon race day, based on the finish times as mentioned in the timing certificates submitted along with application forms. With an aim to encourage women participation, the run has also ascertained limited running places in the open 10K for women applicants.

Superstar Puneeth Rajkumar-“face of event”, extended an open invitation to Bengaluru, to come be a part of the premier running event, he also emphasized on the positive impact the run has had on the various charities and the causes it supports. Urging people to be the feet on the street for a cause, the actor said, “Over the years the TCS World 10k has become an indispensable part of Bengaluru’s DNA. Since its inclusion in the global running calendar, this run has generated more than Rs. 20 crore for charity, making this one of the largest fundraising events in the country. Yet, I know the city can give more, and I hope that running alongside me this year are people who run because they care for a city that we are all proud to call our home.”

The evening was graced by the presence of the sponsors and partners of the run, whose support over the years has helped in making the TCS World 10K a bigger success each year. Also present at the event were dignitaries from the Government of Karnataka and the Karnataka Athletics Association, showing their support while emphasizing on the benefits of the run and its active contribution to the state’s athletic prowess.

Marking the eighth year of the run, Vivek Singh, Joint Managing Director of Procam International, said “The running movement in Bengaluru has evolved over the years and the growing number of registrations is testament to that fact. With 25,000 runners participating on a yearly, the run is not confined to an individual or a team but belongs to the entire community. At the launch, Nike, the event’s Running Partner unveiled the official ‘Race Day Tee’ a performance enhancing tee designed to keep every runner sweat-free through the run. This limited edition race day tee is designed in a striking blue colour with the words ‘WE RUN BLR’.

Leading e-commerce platform, Jabong.com, Retail Partner announced the exclusive range of TCS World 10k merchandise aimed at enhancing the overall running experience of the runners. The range will include stunning products like personalized frames, LED Shoelaces, chill wraps, mobile arm bands amongst other merchandise.

Health Insurance Partner Cigna TTK introduced the Treadmillion Challenge – marking their debut association with the run. The Challenge will travel to multiple locations that include corporate houses, Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), joggers parks and malls to engage and encourage working professionals, youth, homemakers and senior citizens to participate in the event.

Focusing on recovery as a critical aspect of any running event, the TCS World 10K, will for the first time feature an exclusive Recovery Zone for the runners, by Recovery Partner, Volini. The ‘Recovery Zones’ will be supervised by some of India’s best known sports specialists and will come complete with masseurs, foam rollers, beds, amongst other recovery aids.

The DHL Corporate Champions, is gaining tremendous popularity among organizations and is viewed as a highly effective team building exercise.

The charity drive associated with the TCS World 10K Bengaluru, spearheaded by India Cares- the philanthropy partner to the event is set for a quantum leap this year. With a new and improved charity structure the city will exhibit its giving side through specially designed initiatives, highlighting the charity paradigm of the event.

Come May 17, Namma Run will be back in Namma City for Namma Pride!
