Prakash Nanjappa

Prakash Nanjappa added to India's medal tally on Saturday after claiming silver in the 10m Air Pistol event at the Barry Buddon shooting range. Prakash had finished on top at the end of qualifiers with a score of 580.

The Bangalorean was consistent throughout the final as he did not drop out of the top three over the course of 20 shots. Australian Daniel Repacholi won gold, while England's Michael Gault settled for silver.

Daniel showed tremendous resolve during the middle stages as he climbed up the table with some terrific shooting. The Australian held onto his lead through to 17 shots when Prakash stormed back to challenge him with shots of 10.9 and 10.7 on the trot. 10.9 by Prakash was the best shot of the final.

Gault never looked to trouble the top two as he shot a disappointing 9.3 off his 18th shot to bow out in third place.

Prakash trailed Daniel by 1.4 points with two shots remaining. Both men scored 9.3 off their penultimate shot. The 38-year old shot first on his last attempt to score 10.5,which meant the Aussie had to score at least 9.2 points to secure gold.

Daniel scored 10.4 off his last shot to claim gold. Prakash was agonisingly close on clinching a second gold for India in shooting at Glasgow after Abhinav Bindra won in the 10m air rifle event on Friday.
