Bill Goldberg's Hall Of Fame induction sealed his career redemption

Ever wondered what superstars like Trish Stratus and Shawn Michaels are doing after their WWE retirement? Well, wonder no more. Just like all the professions out there, wrestlers also need well-plotted retirement plans. The instability of the wrestling business puts the wrestlers in a precarious position at all times unless you are at the level of John Cena or Steve Austin. Most of the wrestlers who make it to the WWE manage to stay around the top for quite some time before getting relegated and eventually seeking other ventures. The problem is, we fans lose track of what these superstars do after their WWE stay. The retired superstars, however, have their own interesting stories and the list takes a look at them.(some of them).

#10 Torrie Wilson Model

Remember Torrie Wilson? You would be lying if you say no because she was probably the epitome of hotness during the mid-2000s. She started off her career in WCW and once the company folded, she ended up in the WWE roster. She was not known for being a great in-ring performer but she did make the fans drool.

Torrie’s stint with WWE ended in 2008 and she then went on to take a modelling career. The diva also appeared in the reality show called “I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!” and impressed everyone by becoming the runner-up. Her reentry in the headlines came thanks to her relationship with baseball player Alex Rodriguez while she is also a hardcore fitness enthusiast.

#9 Steve Blackman MMA School Owner

Steve Blackman’s stay in the WWE was centred on a martial arts gimmick and he decided to stick to the same once he retired from the wrestling business. His career in WWE was cut short back in 2002 due to injury and once he got out of the promotion, he managed to set up an MMA school.

The school is located in Pennsylvania and has all requirements needed for MMA students. While training the students happens on one side, on the other side, Blackman also sets up venues and matches for his students. Some of Blackman’s students went on to become professional fighters as well, which indeed is a great achievement.

#8 Lita Musician

Whenever a fan talks about women who changed the wrestling scene in WWE, it would be impossible to leave Lita out from the discussion. She was one of the pillars of the women’s division back then and it was a heartbreaking moment for everyone when Lita decided to hang up her boots.

Lita, a former four-time Women’s Champion entered the music industry after her wrestling career. She started a band called “The Luchagors” back in 2006 and takes up tours on a regular basis. She did make occasional appearances in WWE after her departure, but Lita basically spends more time with her love for music.

#7 Scotty 2 Hotty Fire Fighter

Scotty 2 Hotty’s worm was probably one of the coolest moves in Attitude Era. Though the whole thing lacked originality, the flashiness in the move was enough to make it memorable for the fans. Despite being a success story in the Attitude Era, Scotty decided to choose an unexpected path after his career.

Scott Garland in real life, the former WWE superstar underwent training to be a full-time firefighter. Though we would have loved to see him in the wrestling circuit more, what he did is an act that deserves a lot of respect. Scot did drop by at NXT to share his experience and wrestled a couple of matches in the developmental territory as well.

#6 Ted DiBiase Jr. Owns non-profit organization

Ted DiBiase Jr. had everything a wrestler needed to make it big in the WWE. He had the looks, the skills and the right second name but once his career started rolling, Ted decided to quit the business and concentrate elsewhere.

He started a non-profit organization called Ted DiBiase Foundation in 2012, which aims at helping individuals with life-threatening diseases. Ted was also in the news recently for helping wounded veterans as part of the Warrior Bonfire Project. Along with these, he also serves an executive position at CollegeGarageSale.com, which is a website that deals with college e-commerce.

#5 Edge Television Actor

Edge’s wrestling career was cut short at a very early age due to the injuries he culminated over the years. He still had the passion and love for the industry but was forced to retire by his doctors who warned him of being paralyzed permanently if he wrestled again.

Despite this big blow, Edge remained resilient and started exploring the other options he had. Television acting proved to be an apt choice for the Rated R superstars while the producers showed no hesitation in signing him up. He appears in the Syfy show called ‘Haven’ and is also getting several other offers. The funny thing about all these is, Edge got the offer to act in the show just two days after he announced his retirement.

#4 Trish Stratus Founded Stratusphere Yoga

If Trish Stratus doing some good old yoga was your fantasy, you are one lucky person. Just like Lita, Trish was the backbone of Women’s division during Attitude Era. She was part of some milestone feuds as well and once she decided to end her WWE career, Trish founded the Stratusphere Yoga.

The Stratusphere yoga studio is located in Toronto and has attracted a lot of celebrities. The venture went on to win a lot of awards as well with Business Woman Of The Year in 2011 being the most notable one from the lot. Just like most of the other superstars in the list, Trish also makes occasional appearances for WWE.

#3 DDP - Founded DDP Yoga

The second Yoga studio in the list belongs to none other than Diamond Dallas Page. This one is more exposed among the wrestling fans than Trish’s studio as DDP yoga is responsible for some inspirational stories. DDP suffered a lot of problems during his wrestling days and when he realized that yoga was an effective measure to all those, he decided to take up the path.

He has been credited with praise for rehabilitating the likes of Scott Hall and Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts. DDP yoga also helped a war veteran Arthur Boorman to walk again after the doctors concluded that he would never walk on his own again. DDP got a lot of mainstream media for his stories and is still going strong with his yoga.

#2 Bill Goldberg Podcast Host

During his wrestling days, Goldberg was known for the legendary streak that he had at WCW. Once WCW folded, Goldberg went on to have a short stint at WWE before deciding to quit the wrestling scene. Goldberg went on to admit on various occasions that he never wanted to be a wrestler in the first place so it only made sense when Goldberg looked for other options after his retirement.

He tried his hands in television for some time and also served as a colour commentator for various MMA promotions. Goldberg had his own Podcast called “Who’s Next?! With Bill Goldberg” and covers a lot of topics during the show.

He did have a triumphant WWE return between October 2016 to April 2017, after which he went back into retirement, being inducted into the Hall Of Fame the following year, seemingly redeeming an unsatisfying end to his WWE career.

#1 Shawn Michaels TV Show host and Bible teacher

Quite arguably the most painful entry in the list is that of Shawn Michaels. He retired from WWE after WrestleMania 26 due to the stipulation that was there in place for the match. Michaels decided to stay out of the squared circle ever since despite being in great shape.

He is now a born-again Christian and enjoys being a Bible teacher most of the time. Apart from this, he has appeared in a handful of television shows including the hunting show that he hosts. The weekly show is called Shawn Michaels MacMillan River Adventures. Michaels makes on and off appearances for WWE and hopefully, he will come back for one more match in the future.
