However, there is a long list of things about Shawn Michaels that Vince McMahon would want us to forget.Over the course of his career, just like all of us, Michaels has done some pretty ridiculous things and this list is going to take a look at those.

#10 He was once fired by WWE

The rockers were fired once

Before breaking out as a singles star, Michaels was having success along with Marty Jannetty as the Midnight Rockers. The team found some solid success back in AWA and it caught the eye of Vince McMahon.

Vince decided to get them into the company and the duo was given a decent push. Things, however, got sour for the tag team when Michaels got involved in a bar incident.

He reportedly broke a bottle on his head to show off in front of other wrestlers and this did not sit well with Vince. Michaels and Jannetty was soon let go by the boss but they did make a silent comeback to the company later.

#9 The Marines incident

Getting beaten up by Marines is not something worth remembering

Michaels was known for his notoriety in WWE locker room back during his initial run. He was hard to get along according to his fellow wrestlers and this attitude always landed him in trouble.

Though most of the things that happened inside the WWE did not impact Michaels much, certain incidents outside the company did.

Michaels once took his attitude in front of some Marines, and paid the price for it. According to folklore, Michaels was badly beaten up by the Marines in a bar after he tried to hit on a woman who was with the men.

He was the Intercontinental Champion back then and he forfeited the championship soon citing injuries from the bar fight.

#8 Posing for Gay Magazine

He posed without knowing that majority of the readers were gay

The WWE divas posing for Playboy is always a big deal in the company. Playboy has a great reputation among the fans and it is something that WWE makes use of to get some extra media coverage.

So when someone came up to Shawn Michaels with the idea of posing for Playgirl in 1996, he thought that it was a Playboy-like magazine for girls.

Michaels posed for a semi-nude picture and it became a hit. The twist in the tale was that it was a Gay Magazine. Michaels didn’t know this when he was approached with the offer and it is something that he or WWE doesn’t mention these days.

#7 Brawl with Bret Hart

Bret and Shawn has a lot of history

The history between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels cannot be summarized in a single slide. These two men have had some interesting stories throughout their career and the altercation that they had backstage during a Monday Night stands out from the lot.

The show was being held at Hartford, Connecticut. Bret and Michaels got into a real life brawl backstage which resulted in Bret walking away with a chunk of Michaels’ hair.

Michaels went on to complain about the same to Vince and threatened to quit due to the same. Michaels decided not to leave the company and the two men have patched up their differences now.

#6 Burying Vader

Michaels apparently buried Vader

Michaels just did not know how to put over talent back in the 90s. He had a habit of never losing his championship cleanly and most of them were forfeited or changed hands due to storyline reasons.

One of the major causalities of this habit was Vader. Vader was supposed to win the WWE title from Michaels at 1996 SummerSlam, but Michaels had no intentions of doing so.

He changed the plans and had a horrible match with Vader. The program which was supposed to run till Royal Rumble was scrapped and WWE decided to replace Vader with Sid.

Jim Cornette, who was in the creative team at that time put the blame on Michaels and claimed that Michaels buried Vader. Vader is currently is terminally ill and despite the sad news, is wrestling across Japan in his final months.

#5 The WrestleMania XX Main Event

The erased classic

Shawn Michaels made his return from first retirement back in 2002 and went on to have some memorable feuds. The most memorable perhaps was his battle with Triple H.

The former best friends going at it for the World Heavyweight champion was a treat to watch for the fans and WWE milked the situation to their advantage for a long time.

One of the biggest success stories of the feud came in WrestleMania XX when Michaels and Triple H had a triple threat match with Chris Benoit for the Title.

It is considered to be ‘the’ best triple threat bout in the recent history, but unfortunately due to what happened with Benoit, it is something that the WWE wants us to forget.

#4 The Epic Sells

The 2005 SummerSlam boasted a dream match between Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels on the card. A match between these two icons was sure to be an epic draw and in short, it was.

But the match did not go as WWE planned. The idea was to have two matches between Michaels and Hogan where Hogan would win one and Michaels would win one.

But Hogan was not ready to lose to Michaels and this made the situation awkward. Michaels was not happy with Hogan’s attitude and decide to make a mess out of the SummerSlam encounter.

Michaels oversold almost every move from Hogan and instead of looking like a classic; the match was a comedy affair for the fans.

#3 The Relationship with Vince McMahon

A homosexual relationship?

Now, this is not a confirmed piece. It is still one of the urban legends in the wrestling business but since it came from Bret Hart, it is worth including in the list.

According to Bret, Vince and Michaels were having a homosexual relationship. Bret might’ve told this out of his friction with Michaels, but then again, it could be true.

These claims were not confirmed or denied by Vince and Michaels, so it still remains as a rumor that haunts the duo at night. The reason why it did not catch a major attraction was because it came from Bret as he had some history with Michaels.

If someone else had backed these claims, then it would have been a different story altogether.

#2 Sunny Days

Sunny days of Shawn Michaels

Michaels was known to be a ladies man back in the 90s’ and this was probably the root of the ‘Sunny Days’ rumors. Sunny once came out and said that she dated Michaels for around 8 months back in mid-90s.

It would sound normal for a wrestler to date another wrestler but the twist here is that Sunny was already in a relationship with Chris Candido.

Bam Bam Bigelow, during a shoot interview, stated that Candido was torn apart due to the Michaels and Sunny affair. Bigelow also said that Candido was on the verge of suicide due to the same.

Shawn has not admitted the relationship till now but it is clearly something that he does not want to be dug up.

#1 He tagged with God once

Well, need I say anymore to show how ridiculous the whole thing is? Vince McMahon has had some pretty awful ideas over the years and this perhaps ranks right up the list.

Michaels was scheduled to face off against Shane McMahon and Vince McMahon at the 2006 Backlash pay-per-view and the tag team partner that Vince found for Michaels was none other than God.

Michaels was known for his religious beliefs back during that time, and Vince exploited this real life factor to book the match. The Heart Break Kid ended up losing the match and WWE had some bad music and spotlight to show that God was indeed in the match.
