10 WWE records that will never be broken

One of the greatest Intercontinental Champions

The Rock during the Attitude EraSo many records that get made in the modern era of this compnay, more or less, are meant to be broken. Whether its AJ Lees or CM Punks championship reigns or breaking Undertakers undefeated streak, if you thought that theyll never be conquered once or more, you thought wrong. But there are many records that are quite difficult to replicate. If WWE is willing to go by the slow burning method and wait years and years, only then can one begin to believe that theyre quite serious in inching close to and maybe beating a particular record that one thought could never be broken. Here are 10 such records.

#10 Intercontinental Title Reign

One of the greatest Intercontinental Champions

The list begins with a record that can be broken if WWE puts their will onto it but you just know they won’t in the near future. The Intercontinental Title is nowhere near the relevance that the US title has recieved this year. Though the plan was to give both these mid card titles the spotlight, it hasn’t been that starry for the IC title.

The Honky Tonk Man has the longest reign as Champion. A cumulative total of 454 days. That’s a record that he accomplished in 1988. So, it’s been 27 years already and this record stands firmly as something yet to be broken.

#9 Total World Championships

Ric_Flair-745x396.jpg (745396)
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Okay, so officially, WWE recognizes Ric Flair as an 18-time champion but that’s actually the case when not accounting his NWA championships. Flair says that he’s a 21-time champion.

Going by the 16 reigns, John Cena is closer to equalling that record and since so many years as the top face has considerably slowed his championship reigns as new performers try to garner the spotlight, it’s pretty possible for Cena to equal and cross the total world championship record officially recognized by the WWE since he’s already at 15.

But hey, he cannot come closer to 21. So, it seems.

#8 Shortest Match

Rock-On-The-Mic-2.jpg (539359)
Do you remember the time when he had the shortest match ever?

It would take some serious time management to beat this record. If we consider the fact that a pinfall accounts of three seconds of a match, then this match actually lasted a whole of three seconds. The Rock rolled up Big Boss Man as soon as the bell rang and pinned him One-Two-Three.

And we’ve seen faster counts than the usual time a referee takes to make the pinfall count, then and only then can this record be broken. Like say, a Scott Armstrong or a Mike Tyson were to do the deed.

But, realistically, this can only be equalled, not broken.

#7 Shortest Title Reign

An unlikely record

The Intercontinental Title is back into the picture.

When talking about shortest reigns, would you have ever believed that Triple H, the king of kings, the son in law of Vince McMahon, the Game, could ever be a part of such a feat in history?

Well, it isn’t something he’ll be ashamed of since this reign is on account of a technicality. One upon a time he was a World Champion and he faced his current stooge Kane who was the Intercontinental Champion. The point of this match was for the winner to unify the titles. Triple H won and unified the titles, thus staying the lone IC Champion for less than a minute.

#6 Not being Pinned

The Eighth Wonder of The World

According to WWE, Andre the Giant is the eighth wonder of the world. And they really did book him to be considered that way. He wasn’t pinned for 15 years straight. From 1973 till 1987, the Giant was built as this indestructible, unstoppable force. So, when Hulk Hogan finally pinned him, it was monumental in every single way.

He hasn’t won that many world championships for remaining undefeated for that long but this streak justifies why he was WWE’s marquee guy for the longest time. And it was credible enough to make the juggernaut that was Hulk Hogan seem even more impactful.

Their rematch had 33 million viewers watching in anticipation which was the highest in history.

#5 The longest undefeated streak

That record will never die

Well, while Andre The Giant wasn’t pinned for 15 years, that doesn’t mean that he won every single match for 15 years. That man was difficult to pin but he had been disqualified and all.

But Dr. Death Steve Williams was not only undefeated for 10 years but he won every single match in those many years. Every single one of them. Nobody now or ever can match that record. For a decade, he defeated every opponent that came his way.

That feat ought to be revered and celebrated.

#4 Shortest Royal Rumble participation

Gone with the Wind

Mathematically, even this can’t be broken. This can be equalled but not broken. Santino Marella has long been a character fixed for all comic relief segments. He was the face of such segments and he was genuinely good at it. So, it was funny to see him enter the Rumble and leave it in a split second.

Santino lasted just for a second in the 2009 Royal Rumble. His entrance theme went on longer than his participation.

#3 Undefeated Wrestlemania Streak

TakerInjuryAI.jpg (642361)
That 21-year-old story will never be replicated

Yes, it was conquered but you have to admit that the WWE build one heck of a story that lasted 22 years.

And it’s the power of that story and the dedication of Mark Calaway who played the Undertaker that made Brock Lesnar’s victory have such a long lasting impact. That moment where the streak was defeated made a packed arena go silent. It was truly unbelievable.

But the Deadman had that streak for 21 years. Who will ever break that? Most wrestlers can’t even hang around for those many years.

#2 Fabulous Reign

The longest reigning women’s champion in WWE history

The Fabulous Moolah, immediately after signing with the WWE, was regarded as the longest reigning champion in history. After all, she’d held the Women’s Championship for 10 years. She lost it to for two days, regained it back and maintained another long streak which lasted for 6 years.

So all in all, for 16 years she was making quite the moolah being a champion.

History will forever value her contribution and she may always be considered to be more impactful than so many other wonderfully talented female performers just because of this reign.

You can obviously believe that someone will break AJ Lee’s record of 295 days as champion or Trish Stratus’ total reigns of 7 championships, but this one? Not so much.

#1 Bruno Sammartino

Unbroken

By now you may know or have an inkling of knowledge about who Bruno Sammartino is. He was the main inductee at the Hall of Fame 2 years ago. He sold out the Madison Square Garden on multiple occasions.

But what is most memorable is his indisputable reign as The World Championship for a cumulative of 11 years. His first reign is recognized by the company as the single longest reign in history which was precisely 2803 days.

This can never be equalled. The rate and pace at which a Championship reign is accounted these days, we can completely believe that Sammartino’s record will remain untouched.
